Yes, we do generally pressure wash all homes prior to painting to remove surface contaminants (such as dirt, spider webs, etc).
A couple exceptions to this are houses that recently had new siding installed and houses built before 1979 that may contain Lead-Based Paint. If Lead Paint is present, pressure washing will only make the problem worse by blasting and spreading the Lead Paint throughout your yard and having the contaminated water enter your soil. The EPA and State of Oregon require that if pressure washing is used, all water and paint chips must be contained and trapped, which is nearly impossible to do around residential homes with Lead Paint. Therefore, we take extra time and precaution and simply hand wash and wipe down areas with surface contaminants prior to painting.
Yes. Depending on the siding of your home, we will caulk what is needed (such as butt joints, gaps around doors and windows, etc). Note, however, that newer siding is now back-flashed at butt joints so caulking is not needed, and tops of windows that are flashed also are not to be caulked. Feel free to ask us what kind of caulking we will be using on your specific project.
It is generally not a good idea to paint while it is raining, though there may be exceptions such as if the surfaces to be painted are covered or shielded from the falling moisture. If it begins to rain while we are in the process of painting, we will wrap up work ASAP and clean up any materials around the home. The rain may wash off some fresh wet paint, but beyond that, is relatively harmless to new paint once it has dried. It is The Willamette Valley, so we work around the rain all the time!
Yes, it depends. Paint can be applied at temperatures above freezing. If it is not raining outside, and we have enough daylight and temperatures above freezing, we can paint exteriors. To ensure that the paint has enough time to dry before returning the following day, we may need to wrap up work around 2 or 3pm while the sun is still out.
Yes, each project includes a one hour complimentary color consultation during our walkthrough with you. We will meet with you at your home to discuss any ideas you might have, provide some of our ideas, sample chips, and help narrow down the decision for custom color swatches to be tested where we will be painting.
We like to require paint colors to be solidified at least 3 days before we begin our work, but things change in this process and we're ready for that. What good is an exceptional paint job if you don't like the color? We get it, If you are on the fence on a few different color options, we highly recommend picking up samples of the paint colors from your nearest Sherwin-Williams Paint store and painting the samples on the exterior/interior. Our home paint store is Sherwin in Keizer, OR.
There, they personally know us and will be more than happy to help you!
Going that route in choosing colors and getting samples will help you see a larger picture of both the paint color and it’s sheen in your home. Please remember to paint samples on several areas of the home. Light can change the appearance of all colors, so we recommend painting samples on areas of bright light as well as shaded areas on the home.
We want to do what is most comfortable for our customers. Our painters generally work Monday-Friday on-site from 8:30am-4:30pm, except for holidays and were closed on Sundays & also, we Extend our service hours for summer! We do not require homeowners to be present the entire time our painters are working. For exteriors, we just need access to the full exterior (unlocked backyard gates) as well as working water and electrictricity. For interior, we need someone to either allow the painters to get inside the home when they arrive in the morning, or a lockbox, key, and or code for entry.
Yes. We have carpenters on staff who can repair most dry rot issues on exteriors, as well as small carpentry projects such fascia and trim replacements, siding replacement, etc. For interiors, we can remove wallpaper, patch, mud, and texture drywall, and install new baseboards, crown molding, windows, their sills/wraps, doors, etc. If there are larger repairs we are not capable of doing, we will provide recommendations for other contractors who can help.
Every house is different in regards to their painting needs and length of time. We will specify the amount of time we expect each project to take at the bottom of the estimate in days. Most full exterior projects take about a week, depending on the size of the home.
Pay by cash or check and we'll take 4% off your estimate! We always require 50% before we start your project, and the other 50% upon the day of completion of your project.
At this time we do not offer payment plans, but, feel free to reach out and we can help you find someone to get financed through.
Yes, we are fully licensed, bonded, and insured in the state of Oregon. You can visit the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (https://www.oregon.gov/ccb) to review our license (#236099), insurance/bond, and other business info. Be sure to also check out any other contractors you may be thinking about hiring.
Yes, we are EPA certified to test for the presence of lead paint, and also work on and paint homes that are found to contain lead based paint (homes built before 1979). We are not, however, a lead abatement company.
The room does not have to be completely clear. We simply ask that all homeowners remove any items hanging on the wall (wall art, curtains, etc.) and move all furniture towards the center of the room prior to our arrival. We will then drop plastic on all furniture to protect it.
We use them all. For exteriors, we will spray out the body, eaves, and doors, then brush and roll window trim and door trim to create clean lines. For interior, we mostly brush and roll, but depending on the size of the job and traffic in the home while we’re working, we may recommend spraying the interior.
